During the COVID-19 pandemic, I was searching for a musical idea to connect with others from afar. My objective was to express greater creativity and significance in response to this unprecedented situation. I considered several themes in order to develop a concept for my piece. Once I had a clear understanding of my purpose, I collaborated with a friend who lived in Iran to begin working on the music piece.

Process

We began by recording every music idea that came to mind and shared them before recording over previous ideas. This process took around four months, resulting in roughly 50 gigabytes of material recorded across several themes. Using this material, we were able to identify the main theme and began recording it while also capturing performance footage. After mixing and mastering the music, I edited together all of the video material from the recording process, resulting in a final product that integrated both audio and visual components. This entire project took me nearly six months to complete, and I worked on it entirely on my own.
